As part of our business development plan, Amakbooks is seeking a team member for the position of Editor-in-Chief.
Job Description:
- Planning, Managing, and Controlling: Develop plans, manage, review, and execute manuscript processing.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments to handle issues related to publishing products before and after release.
- Technical Coordination: Work closely with technical teams to ensure printed materials meet content, illustration, design, and layout requirements.
- Strategic Planning: Create short-term and medium-term exploitation plans for manuscript organization.
- Team Coordination: Build topics, organize manuscripts, and coordinate a team of collaborators (translators, compilers, editors, presenters, designers, printers, and communicators). Hand over final files, including print-ready PDFs, inner layouts (in Word or specialized software), and covers for administrative archiving as per regulations.
- Editing and Proofreading: Edit and proofread book content before publication.
- Market Trends: Stay informed about book market trends both domestically and internationally.
- Additional Tasks: Perform other duties assigned by the Director.
Job Requirements:
- Professional Publishing Skills: Proficiency in publishing with at least 2 years of editing experience. Passion for literature.
- Strong Reading and Assessment Skills: Ability to read and evaluate books effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Careful and meticulous.
- Communication and Time Management Skills: Effective communication and time management abilities.
- Organizational and Leadership Skills: Capable of organizing and problem-solving.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in either English or Japanese.
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in office software.
